MIGA has a issued $95 million guarantee to Rabobank Curacao N.V. (Rabo-Curacao) of the Netherlands Antilles to cover its $100 million shareholder loan through other subsidiaries and/or branches of the Rabobank Group to Banco Rabobank International Brasil S.A. (Rabo-Brazil). The coverage is for a period of up to five years and protects against the risks of Transfer Restriction and Expropriation.

Rabo-Curacao's shareholder loan will allow Rabo-Brazil to increase its lending program, thereby bolstering the Brazilian financial sector through the provision of medium-term financing. Rabo-Brazil's innovative use of forfaiting in the Brazilian financial market will allow enterprises to obtain financing at lower costs. The shareholder loan will also facilitate longer tenor financing for food and agribusiness SMEs. The loans will allow local companies to expand their activities in the food and agriculture sectors and thus indirectly create local employment opportunities.
