Yasser Ibrahim
Yasser Mohamed Ibrahim is the Sector Manager for Environment, Social, and Climate at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), the political risk insurance and credit enhancement arm of the World Bank Group (WBG). He leads the teams of sustainability (Energy, extractive industries, financial intermediaries, and capital markets) and Climate analytics units responsible for work in these areas to ensure to ensure projects MIGA supports promote development impact and achieve the Agency’s and WBG’s vision to end poverty on a livable planet.
The work of the two teams focuses on working with our clients and businesses to address environmental and social (E&S) risks and impacts, climate change, and reputational risk management and foster sustainable practices in all sectors supported by MIGA. Core functions of the units include the assessment of the environmental and social sustainability, climate risks/vulnerability, greenhouse gases (GHG) and climate finance accounting, and assessment of gender-based violence (GBV), sexual exploitation, abuse and/or sexual harassment of projects where MIGA support is being considered, as well as the monitoring of compliance of projects with MIGA’s at approval requirements.
Ibrahim has worked in the WBG since 2007—first at IFC and joined MIGA in 2012. Ibrahim is an Egyptian national with more than 25 years of experience in managing and conducting various projects and leading professional teams. Ibrahim has background in E&S impact assessments, management systems, climate finance accounting, climate risk assessment, Paris Alignment assessment, GHG emissions, carbon markets, biodiversity management, integrity risk management, and gender. He has broad experience across various sectors and regions.
