Kate Wallace is the Sector Manager for Sustainability (Environmental and Social), covering the infrastructure and manufacturing, agribusiness and services sectors at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), the political risk insurance and credit enhancement arm of the World Bank Group. The Sustainability team is responsible for ensuring that the projects MIGA supports are aligned with MIGA’s environmental and social policies. The team also contributes to thought leadership on global sustainability issues and supports the development of good practice guidance on emerging environmental and social issues.

Kate joined MIGA in 2013. She has extensive experience working across sectors and regions on projects with complex environmental and social challenges. Prior to joining MIGA, Kate spent 9 years in environmental and social consulting, primarily in the extractive and energy sectors in East Asia Pacific and Sub-Saharan Africa. Her consulting experience includes undertaking Environmental and Social Impact Assessments, climate risk and vulnerability assessments and strategic environmental assessments, and the development and implementation of management plans (environment, social, resettlement, livelihood restoration).

Kate holds a Master of Science in Environmental Management from the University of Stirling (Scotland) and a Bachelor of Science in Environment and Health from University of Toronto (Canada).
