Helping Hotels in Senegal Stay Afloat amid COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic triggered a crisis in Senegal’s tourism industry. Novotel Dakar and Ibis Dakar had to quickly adjust to the new reality. Their staff and management worked hard to reinvent themselves and tried to diversify their products by targeting local clients, offering promotional rates, especially weekend deals, and providing themed brunches in restaurants and outdoor entertainment next to pools and on terraces. Despite these efforts, the hotels were still met with major challenges, and they needed support.
Kasada Capital Management stepped in with its investments guaranteed by MIGA, and financed a large portion of the work to refurbish rooms, common areas, and facilities in these hotels, so they were able to reopen and welcome guests again.
