In its first project in the country, MIGA issued a $30 million guarantee to the Ukrainian Investment Fund Limited (Bahamas) for its investment in an equity investment fund. The fund will invest in projects that focus on the agribusiness, construction, and infrastructure sectors and that meet MIGA's criteria for developmental benefits and environmental soundness. The project represents the first MIGA guarantee forcapital and the first time that has extended coverage for investments in downstream projects. The guarantee covers the investment against the risks of transfer restriction, expropriation, and war and civil disturbance.
