MIGA issued its first guarantee in Honduras to Wartsila Diesel Development Corporation Inc. (WDD), against the risks of expropriation and war and civil disturbance, for a 60 MW diesel electric power plant near the Atlantic port of Puerto Cortes.
In separate guarantee contracts, totaling $18 million, MIGA coverage was also extended to two Dutch banks (Internationale Nederlanden Bank, N.V. and Mees Pierson) for their loans of $10 million each to the project.
