MIGA Announces Senior Management Appointments
Ana-Mita Betancourt Heads Legal;
Ravi Vish Leads Economics & Policy Group

WASHINGTON, DC, September 23, 2010—The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), a member of the World Bank Group, today announced two appointments to its senior management team.  Ana-Mita Betancourt begins on September 27th as General Counsel and Director of MIGA’s Legal Affairs and Claims Group; Ravi Vish joined the agency this week as Director of MIGA’s Economics and Policy Group.

Betancourt joins MIGA from the Inter-American Development Bank, where she served in senior positions since 2002. Previously, she practiced law with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), Darby Overseas Investments, Ltd., and private law firms.

In her new position, Betancourt will lead MIGA’s legal department and serve as the chief legal authority for the agency.

Vish rejoins the World Bank Group in this new appointment, having previously held senior positions with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Between 2005 and this appointment, Vish worked with DuPont Capital Management and WestLB Mellon Asset Management (USA).

At MIGA, Vish will oversee teams responsible for assessing project and country risks;  ensuring projects that MIGA insures are developmentally sound; and verifying that project operations are consistent with good economic policy and sustainable for the host country—as well as financially sustainable for MIGA.
