Following on from far-reaching global decisions on future Climate Action (UNFCCC), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Sustainable Energy for All (SE4A) and the post-crisis architecture of financial markets, the 4th annual Global Infrastructure Basel Summit set the course with the theme “Mainstreaming Sustainability in Infrastructure Financing and Investment”

The summit took place on 21 and 22 May 2014 and attracted more than 350 participants from over 40 different countries and over 100 different cities worldwide. The summit kicked off with an interactive participant-centred workshop entitled “Financing Infrastructure Projects in Cities – Avoiding Traps and Achieving Sustainability” presented by Harvard Business School senior lecturer Prof. John Macomber. After this session the summit offered plenary sessions with senior high level participants, workshops, policy roundtables and investment forums featuring 30 sustainable infrastructure projects with an overall investment sum of over USD 6 billion.
