Santiago Assalini
Santiago G. Assalini is Director of Finance and Risk at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), the political risk insurance and credit enhancement arm of the World Bank Group. Assalini joined MIGA in March 2015 and is responsible for MIGA’s finance and accounting, risk management, and reinsurance functions.
Prior to joining MIGA, Assalini worked for over thirty years in the financial services industry. He joined JP Morgan in Argentina in 1983 and has held positions in investment banking and credit and country risk management in Argentina, London, and New York. He has advised clients and governments on business development, corporate finance, debt issuance, privatizations, and debt restructuring. Assalini has also worked for Standard Bank of South Africa as Chief Credit Officer for the firm's worldwide wholesale operations and as Chief Risk Officer for the Americas.
Assalini holds a law degree from the Universidad Católica Argentina and a master of laws (LLM) degree from Columbia University Law School.
