Jukka-Pekka Strand
Jukka Strand is Head of Project Equity and Debt at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), the political risk insurance and credit enhancement arm of the World Bank Group. He leads the structuring of project finance and equity guarantees for real-sector investments, delivering high-quality transactions that mobilize private capital into critical infrastructure. In this role, he leverages the World Bank Group’s Guarantee Platform—with a particular emphasis on political risk insurance—to catalyze investment at scale.
Jukka has 18 years of experience in emerging and frontier markets, specializing in public–private partnerships and financial structuring across transport, energy, and other infrastructure sectors. Before joining MIGA in 2025, he served as a Senior Energy Specialist (2023–2025), leading the World Bank’s engagement in Kenya’s energy sector, and as a Senior Infrastructure Finance Specialist (2015–2023), including a four-year assignment in Singapore as the World Bank’s Private Capital Mobilization and Guarantee Focal Point for East Asia. He began his World Bank career as a Financial Analyst in 2008 and joined the Young Professionals Program in 2012.
Jukka holds a Bachelor’s degree from the London School of Economics and a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University. He is also a CFA Charterholder.
