MIGA issued a $10 million guarantee to cover a shareholder loan from ING Bank, N.V. of the Netherlands to expand its Quito branch. The MIGA guarantee covers the risks of transfer restriction and expropriation of funds. In fiscal 1996, MIGA had issued coverage for another shareholder loan by ING to expand its Ecuador branch.
