MIGA Launches World Investment and Political Risk Report

MIGA launched its third World Investment and Political Risk report at a December seminar co-hosted by MIGA and the Financial Times. The event was keynoted by Tunisian Minister of Finance Jalloul Ayed, who focused on the challenges and opportunities facing the Middle East and North Africa. The report itself honed in on foreign direct investment trends, the risk of expropriation, and the state of the political risk insurance industry.

Examining Global Risk in Today's Changing Landscape

In November, MIGA hosted a lively discussion on the risks faced by investors in this rapidly changing world. The event was held in conjunction with the World Bank Group's Law, Justice, and Development Week. MIGA convened an expert panel offering a range of views on risk-mitigation strategies.

Keeping Investments Going in North Africa

Supporting investments into the Middle East and North Africa is a key priority for MIGA this fiscal year. In December, MIGA signed a master contract with Spanish investor Fons Mediterrània Capital, F.C.R. de Régimen Simplificado (FMC) to provide guarantees for up to $48.9 million of the fund's existing investments in Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. This is the fifth master contract of guarantee MIGA has signed with a private equity fund since the agency introduced its private equity product in 2009.

MIGA and Korea Join Forces to Promote Outward Investment

MIGA built on its efforts to reach out to Asia's growing investor community by signing a memorandum of understanding with the Korean Ministry of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs in November. The two organizations committed to working together on marketing and business development efforts to support Korean investors.
