WASHINGTON, DC, April 8, 2014—The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA),the political risk insurance and credit enhancement arm of the World Bank Group, announced the appointments of Carlo Bongianni to head its infrastructure team and Muhamet Bamba Fall to head its Asia hub.

Before joining MIGA, Bongianni held positions at Intesa Sanpaolo Group, National Power PLC, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. At MIGA, he will lead business development and underwriting in the infrastructure sector.

“MIGA credit enhancement and political risk insurance is critical to the infrastructure sector as developing countries seek to mobilize capital to address the funding gap,” said Keiko Honda, MIGA’s Executive Vice President. “We’re pleased to have Carlo on board to lead our work in this arena.”

Fall started his career at MIGA in 2004, joining the Agency’s Asia hub in Singapore as Senior Underwriter in 2012. Previous to MIGA, he worked at the insurance affiliate of the Islamic Development Bank Group as well as in management and development consulting.

“We know Muhamet’s expertise and commitment to encouraging sustainable foreign direct investment into developing countries is strong,” noted Honda. “We look forward to his leadership at MIGA’s Asian hub, which has the important role of supporting both inbound and outbound investments in the region.”
